The city of Hobart is nestled amongst the foothills of beautiful Mount Wellington providing a simply stunning backdrop to the city with the Harbour and Derwent River in the foreground. Mount Wellington summit offers panoramic views of the surrounding areas including Hobart, the Tasman Peninsula, Bruny Island, South Arm and the Iron Pot. Rising 1270 metres from the Harbour, Mount Wellington is often snow covered. It is a place of recreation for Tasmanians with many bushwalking tracks, opportunities for trail biking and abseiling and many bbq and picnic facilities. The Aboriginal name for Mt Wellington is Unghbanyahletta or Poorawetter. |
